久々のシリーズ更新になります。今回はホテル・チェルシーです。
住所は222 W 23rd Stです。
アーサー・Ｃ・クラークが『2001年宇宙の旅』を書くなど、
文学者が多く滞在したホテル。
訪れたときには回送中で中には入れませんでしたが、入り口には滞在した文学者の名前を記したプレートが飾ってありました。
しかしこのプレートにはナボコフの名前はなし。

In the 1970s, the hotel continued to make literary news, for it was here that Clifford Irving lived when arrested for writing his fake autobiography of millionaire recluse, Howard Hughes. Other guests may not have been as notorious but still made notable contributions to literature. Arthur C. Clarke wrote the book 2001: A Space Odyssey while in residence, and Nelson Algren, Robert Flaherty, Julius Lester, Valdimir Nabokov, and Yevgen Yevtushenko all stayed at the Chelsea. p. 82
ただ、ナボコフが最後に渡米したのは1964年のことなので、この記述はやや眉唾です。
