Nabokov@Cambridge5: 35 Brewster Street, 1737 Cambridge Street, Feb. - Apr. 1953

On Feburary 1 the Nabokovs arrived at 35 Brewster Street, Cambridge, which they had taken until April. The house, obtained once again through their friend Sylvia Berkman, belonged to her friend the poet Robert Frost, absent for his customary writer sojourn in Florida. Stone-cold inside, the place was at once rechristened the Jack Frost House by its new tenants. Frost had locked up his study, and the Nabokovs felt disconcerted and made unwelcome by that barricaded den in the middle of the house, They did not stay long. AY 222

a substantial double house on three floors"だったといいます。

In March 1941, Frost moved into a newly purchased residence--35 Brewster Street, Cambridge. This would be his permanent address in Boston area from now on. It was a substantial double house on three floors in what was known as Brewster Village. 333

Jeffrey Meyers

In the spring of 1991 Frost, then teaching at Harvard, bought with Kay's help his last permanent home, at 35 Brewster Street in Cambridge. The three-story residence had shattered windows, peaked gables and a steep-pitched roof, with steps leading up to a covered front porch and a double front door. The quiet house usually ten minutes' walk from Harvard Square. 238-239.

Stopping By Woods on a Snowy Evening"のような気分を味わったと。

35 Brewster Street

By mid-February they had moved to a hotel apartment right on campus, the Ambassador Hotel (now Coolidge Hall), 1737 Cambridge Street, Suite 617. The new quarters suited them ideally for two months of intensive work: only five minutes' walk to the Widner Library, and no housekeeping duties so that Vera remained free to act as research and transcriber of all the materials her husband tracked down.

Ambassador Apartments/Hotel (1935)
→Coolidge Hall (1974)
→Knafel Building (2005)
